What a weekend!

Sorry for the late weekend update guys! My work day yesterday was quite hectic, and then after I got home to 3 mountains of clothes to wash. Needless to say I had a doozy of a day yesterday. But this weekend was amazing enough to not care about a yucky Monday!

My bestest friend ever in the whole wide world, or as we refer to each other, my "wife" Jess came to visit for the weekend! Her beau Brett joined her, and they flew down Saturday morning and returned home Sunday night. It was waaaaay too short of a trip, but the airlines really screwed her over, and those few hours were all she could get out of her original week long vacation. Spirit Airlines, if you're reading this, YOU SUCK!!!

So we did as we could in the little time that we had all together. We had Denny's 2 times within the 2 days they stayed with us, since they don't exist by their homes. We spent a few hours at the beach for a little sun, or a lot of sun, and were attacked by some very tiny, yet annoying fish, who wouldn't stop biting at our feet. We decided to spend some time bothering my parents, since Jess is close with them, and slashed around the pool a bit too, while Brett did an impressive dolphin impersonation. We ate a yummy dinner the boys couldn't shut up about, literally they were raving about their food with their mouths overflowing with pasta. We all got extremely burnt because that sunblock I bought was useless, dumb aerosol cans. We spent hours people watching/gawking at the huge mall over by our house, and of course did a little shopping. We grabbed delicious fruit smoothies and more food because we're eaters and not ashamed of it! And then the sad part came and we had to return them to the airport. :(

We didn't take many pictures, with my whale status and all, but here are a few good ones:

The boys.

They win the cutest couple award for sure.

My husband can be quite creepy sometimes. Prime example.

He got that for free! I'm so proud.

I really love my best friend. No matter the time or distance we spent apart, once we get reunited it's like we were never apart in the first place. And her boyfriend Brett is hysterical (this was the first time we met). Seriously, I don't I stopped laughing the entire weekend. And the fact that Laz and him got along made me and Jess super happy. We can't wait until they visit us again reeeeal soon!

Ulta Haul!

So Tuesday, after my routine check up at the baby doctor, I talked my hubby into taking me to Ulta for a quick shopping trip. I got an email saying that you’d get 20% off your entire purchase through July 28th, and there were few things I needed, or maybe just really wanted, and figured this is was a good time to pick ‘em up! As you’ll all learn here quite soon, I LOVE a good coupon. So here’s what I got…

First, I discovered the other day I don’t have any cute or useful makeup bags, so I saw this sweeet little set in the clearance section. There’s a big clear pouch, a medium-sized fabric pouch, and a tiny plastic pouch…all will be great for everyday or travel use, and they look so summery!

Next I’ve been eyeing this extra soft bronzing brush by Ecotools for about a century now, or at least it felt that way. I use it to blend all my face powders together to get a more “polished” look, works great.

This was the hair dye I bought for after my haircut on Wednesday. I have to use an ash based color since my hair has hidden red highlights in it, and I pull so brassy if I use anything else. Plus this box came with a free sample of L’OREAL’s sulfate free shampoo, and I love sample sized things. I swear I’m such a sucker.

Next, some good sunscreen, which is not a normal purchase of mine. I know, I'm a badddd girl. I’m not known for my smarts when it comes to protecting myself from the sun, and believe me you'd be glad I spared you all the gruesome pictures of my sun poisoning 3 years ago. But we are heading to the beach this weekend, and it’s supposed to be super sunny, so being a good wife/mama, I decided to protect us all. And this is supposed to cool you off as you spray it on, we’ll see how that works out.

Then, this next product got some rather extensive research done on it with many YouTube videos watched before I took the plunge and purchased it. It’s the Fake Bake Flawless self-tanning liquid. I’m thinking about making this into a tutorial post for you guys, to see how it works. I’ve seen a bunch of videos showing it work really nice, even, and natural looking, so I’m excited!

These last little guys are something for the babe’s nursery. The colors are going to be turquoise, pink, and green, so when I saw these in the clearance section I had to snag them up! I figure I could use them to organize little things. :)

So that was my haul. I don’t think it was all that big, but then again I had to stop myself from going crazy up by the register where they have all the tiny sized products, and again over by the Essie nail polishes. Next time...and oh yes, there will be a next time!

This is a hairy situation…

(That was a bad title...I'll admit it and apologize now.)
The best way to explain me and my hair’s situation is a “love-hate relationship”. One day I’ll love it, the volume, color, bounce, shine, everything…and then the next 3 days will be horrendous and I end up looking like a lion. It’s too thick, wavy, frizzy, and flat for me to control. Especially in Southern Florida's humid weather, no thank you. So yesterday I went under the scissors and chopped it off. Again. I really tried to grow it out for my husband’s sake, but let’s face it, he’s stuck with me no matter the hairstyle I have on my head.  MUAHAHA! (that's a creepy evil laugh, obviously) But really, he actually fell for me when I had a pixie cut, and if that’s not love I don’t know what is.
So here’s some before pictures of how long I actually made it to and what my everyday hair looked like just to deal with it…

Pretty straight hair that took me 1hr15mins to do...
oh and that basketball I carry around under my shirts lately.

What I ended up looking like by the end of the day.
I'd put up the wavy-moussey mess in a tiny ponytail to have these odd sideburns...sexxxy no?

Yesterday at work, the morning of the cut. I love a bad hair day to really get me excited for a new hair cut!!
Each side is doing something different, ugh.

And the after! Ohhhh! Ahhhhh! SHORT! I love it. I know I have a big face, but I also think that works in my favor and I can pull off about any cut I try. Or at least that’s what I’ve been told...

YAY for sweeet new hair and a sleepy face! :)
So what do you guys think? Yay or Nay? Have you guys ever just gave in and chopped off your hair? How’d that work out for you?

Hi there!

This blog has definitely been on the back burner for a long time now. I guess it just took me a while to convince myself that there has to be at least 1 person out there in this big world that would enjoy reading my thoughts…or at least I hope there is. Well, maybe I’ll have to do some convincing for you guys to keep on reading my daily posts, so here it goes…
WELCOME TO MY SWEEET LIFE!
My name is Alicia Marie, I’m 23 years old, married to my best friend, and expecting our first little one in just 2 more months! And before you think it, I’ll just come out and say it, yes I’m young but if anyone is capable of being a young mama, it’s me! I’ve been known as the “old lady” all my life simply for my mature nature, and my amazing ability to gossip with all the older women from the early age of 6. I couldn’t be more happy or excited for this next chapter in my life!

15 weeks pregnant back in May, I'm sliiiightly bigger now, ok HUGER is more like it.

me, gnawing on my husband's elbow, completely normal.
And speaking of my hubby, let’s introduce him now! Laz is goofy, sweet, annoying, and loveable all at once, I really couldn’t ask for a better partner in life. We met at work and had the typical love story of the outside worker (him) falling for the secretary (me), you guys know how it goes. But seriously, we went on one crazy date on a random stormy night and literally never left each other’s side since. Married life is amazing at all times! Ok, maybe not, but his jokes that never make any sense, and his big, squinty-eyed smile somehow makes my days much sweeeter!

look. at. that. SMILE. :)
Christmas morning 2011, definitely my favorite picture of us.
So let’s get back to what we’re all really interested in, ME! (heh, yea right) I’ll just give you some basic information on me:
-I’m severely impatient. Seriously, from commercials to doctor’s waiting rooms, I just can’t stand waiting around wasting even a few minutes of my day.
-I LOOOVE Hello Kitty, to the point where I have her little red bow tattooed behind my right ear. Yea, I bet you guys didn’t think I’d be that cool, huh? (I actually have 4 tattoos in total)
-I might possibly have OCD. Everything in our little apartment needs to be in its specific place at all times. I doubt it’s too serious, but at least it keeps our home clean.
-I don’t obtain the ability to grow my hair past my chin. I think this goes back to my impatience, but I really can’t deal with long hair, and the last time I did was my senior year of high school. I have too much hair, it’s too thick to manage, and I just can’t do it ok?! But we’ll get into that a little more tomorrow…
-I have a very loud family. Which makes me loud. And sarcastic. Ok, maybe they weren’t the reason I became so sarcastic, but I have to place the blame on SOMEONE, right? Right!
-I wish I could shop every single day of my life, for bags, makeup, clothes, shoes, all of it! And if money wasn’t an issue I would, but let’s be honest here, it is for most of us. So when I do let myself shop I do it the best way I can, with coupons, discount codes, or free goodies with purchases! Anyway I can make myself feel less guilty for a little splurge, the better.
Alrighty, so those are a few random facts about this ‘lil lady right here. You guys can look forward to random posts about events going on in my life, my pregnancy and the future babe! Definitely fashion and makeup themed posts, either from my current loves and loathes, to sales I’ve found, hauls I’ve purchased, wish-lists, and tutorials I’ve made. I’ll even probably throw in some DIY crafts and/or decorating ideas, and some yummy recipes I love to cook or bake. And I love using pictures in my posts, since I’m a very visual person myself, I figure everyone likes a little break from all these words. I hope y’all enjoyed this first post and maybe even stick around for some more of my sweeet life!
<3 Alicia Marie

ps: sorry for being such a chatty-cathy in this first post...can you tell I'm super excited for this blog? yea, you got the point.
